What would help, instead of the 2 beeps I get from my car, it would speak to you...." HEY!, dumb ars, turn your car off!!. Something tells me, you hear that a couple of times you will remember better then hearing a couple of beeps.

I’ve done this twice, but both outside. Once overnight, vehicle ran till gas ran out. Another time I switched vehicles before going to work. It ran all day and was still idling when I got home.

Luckily the distance between us has never been greater than maybe 1/4 mile.
The engine on my wife's car will idle with out the fob in the car but if you put it in gear the engine stops. I've dropped her at the door of many stores only to have the engine kill when I try to drive away.

They probably instituted changes in the newer vehicles. Ours is a 2011 Lexus RX 350, so it was on the earlier end of the keyless ignitions. Once our vehicle is started, it will continue running until we turn it off.

Our 2004 Ford won't let you put it in gear unless the fob is present.

Ahhhh, it must be different for different manufacturers then. My son's 2007 Nissan Altima will beep at him if he walks away, but will still continue running without the key fob present.

My new Chevy truck is too quiet in my opinion. If I dont hit the button hard enough its running and I dont notice until exiting the truck. One of these times I wont notice it. Their performance exhaust upgrade would solve that but its much louder than I want overall! Cant win. My last Chevy truck had perfect sound.
Pretty sure they made it quiet to compliment the auto start/stop feature which I disable anyways.

I hate them, hate them hate, them...

Have a company car, Equinox, if i get out and the keys are in it i get the 3 quick honks. Annoying. I leave mine running on purpose, especially in winter to let it warm up in the driveway. When you don't buy the gas it's easier to swallow doing that.
