Shot placement is the number one rule in hunting any animal. A 30-06 has been used to kill any animal on the planet. I own one large caliber rifle, a Ruger model 7 in 30-06 I reload all of my shells. I practice shooting from any position. Shooting from a bench is a good way to zero in your rifle. I can shoot past 400 yards from a bench and hit where the target is. Like people say, be comfortable with your rifle, and know your limitations. Every brand of bullets will shoot differently.
