Default Upgrade Helix to Solex will they talk?

I'm upgrading my two Helix G2N SI (12" & 10") units to two Solix SI+ G3 (15" & 12") units. I have an Ulterra networked also.

My question is, if I keep the 2 Helix units on the boat will they talk to the two Solix units?

I have heard NO & I have heard only the mapping, such as waypoints. I would like mapping next to my Solix units rather than splitting the Solix screen with a map and SI, 360 ect. A luxury, I know. But I'm not sure if I should test my wife's patience and beg for a 3rd Solix??? Don't be judgemental.

My other concern is battery consumption. Solix 15" - 4.0 AMPs / Solix 12" - 2.88 AMPs / Helix 12' - 1.75 AMPs / Helix 10' - 1.2 AMPs (almost 10 AMPS) plus other accessories. Livewell, lights, radio...
I am planning on putting a fourth battery in the boat regardless of the upgrade and isolating the starting Battery away from any other Amp consumers. (I've had a dead battery a few times) I can't get to my boat right now to find out, but I'm hoping to put a 31 Group or at least a 27 group AGM in for the electronics ect. depending on the space under the portside jump seat.

Any advise from all the experience on this site much appreciated.

Thanks, John

This is what it says on the Humminbird website.
https://www.humminbird.com/support/f...units-together

When networked together via Ethernet, HELIX and SOLIX models will share:
. Waypoints
. i-Pilot Link information and control
. 360 Imaging (note that HELIX and SOLIX will not share MEGA 360 with each other)
. Humminbird CHIRP radar
. Bluetooth Talon control**
. NMEA 2000 network information***

I think all those items are Ethernet items. They talk direct to all Ethernet compatible fishfinders. Only sharing between Helix and Solix is waypoints. Bob

So just waypoints, does that mean I can go back and find all these waypoints on my Helix G2N, look at them with the mega 360 on the Solix, see what it is and remark it as a rock or what ever on the Solix? This new marking info will then be on my Helix?

I have a lot of WPs that have no designation of what they are because it was too much of a pain to mark them when I wanted to fish the spots.

You are really going to pull some amps. Add livewell pump and radio to that if you have one. Even without keeping your old units, you will pull alot of amps. My suggestion would be if you want an extra unit for mapping, would be to just keep the 10" Helix for that, and sell the 12". I think the 10" helix only draws about 1 Amp, and would be more than big enough if just used for maping.

Solix 15 is 4.0 and the 12 is 2.9. Your g2 helix are about half that. Pretty sure only waypoints between Solix and Helix. No tracks. They will all still work with ipilot over Ethernet. Bob
