Default Illinois registration - fishing in MN

bought a boat late July and since i'm in the great state of illinois, i still don't have my stickers and am about to leave for a trip to rainy river. i assume i'm ok with just having all my registration papers on my person but i wanted to make sure.

i did email dnr today.

If you have a confirmation RECEIPT from the Illinois DNR,that shows you submitted registration and paid your fees,you should be fine. Wouldn't hurt to have a copy of the sales receipt for the purchase also, so you can show law enforcement if asked,that it was a recent purchase.

Ill is the worst for processing this stuff. I carried my bill of sale and and all receipts/forms related to the registration in a waterproof case. I left the old number on the boat so it would match up with bill of sale. I swamped out the numbers when I got my new ones. This was for a boat bought out of state. Trailer registration was a also a hassle. More taxes less service and less knowledgeable support to guide you through the process.
