Default 150 lbs or 300 lbs of Power Pro

I was just wondering if you guys prefer 150 or 300 yards of braid on a line counter trolling reel. Would I ever need more than 150 yards of line? It's a lot cheaper, that's for sure.

150 is plenty. No lure is going to charted much over 150 feet. You will have 450 feet.

You're right, I just hate to load the reel with that much mono.

People say the Tekota 300's aren't big enough, yet load then up with 75% mono backing. I don't get it.

I guess that makes sense when you are trolling with 150+ feet of line out.

You get a linecounter reel to tell you how much line you have let out. The spool needs to be full for the counter to count accurately. If you wish you can use $20 worth of power pro or $2 worth of 20lb mono to fill the spool. Whatever makes sense to you. Bob

If u run 10 lines u will need at least a few rods with 300yds....I run 8-10 boards at a time, them outside lines can be 150ft behind the board and another 225ft from rod tip to board, now put a big fish like a king on the end of it

What BOB said

You have to fill the spool up.
Fill it with mono then calibrate all your reels to read the same.

After filling, don't cut the line from the spool till you calibrate it. You may need to add more line. Doing it this way you can get every reel to read the same right down to the gnats azz.

google - calibrate linecounter reels

I am not planning on running boards, at least not now. Our lake really isn't big enough for that. Maybe I will someday in the future. Bob, I have two Tekota 300 lc reels. I plan to load them up with Power Pro and mono backing. I just wasn't sure if I want 150 or 300 yards.
