REDY - is a dual axle more difficult to move than a single axle? I've always had single. What are he advantages of a dual?

My boat is pretty much at the max weight before you have to go to a tandem axle. The tires and axle are only rated up to a certain weight. Then you need 4 tires instead of two. Plus 2 axles instead of one. Plus allot of people think that the tandems ride smoother. Tandems have a little more safety factor also. If you have a tire blowout you still have a tire keeping the frame somewhat off the road. Downsides are the tandems are allot harder to turn sideways by hand. Allot of people use a four wheel dolly under one set of wheels. Or a chain to the frame to take weight off one axle. When moving a tandem trailer sideways one set of wheels will tend to slide to the side more then a single axle does. In other words more friction is caused by duel axles.

I have one to get my 620 into the garage.
With the Trailer Valet I can go through my single door with minimal clearance on each side of the trailer, or I can go through my double door and jog the trailer into the single stall fully it’s pretty robust for that Issues I have if my driveway is damp, it doesn’t have the traction to push my boat up the driveway (not that much incline but stilll) Be careful if you use a power drill, if you engage the brake while holding the trigger down it will snap and wreck your wrist which a quickness.

Another option.
Rather than going out and purchasing another machine to move your boat, just use what you already own. What ever you have for a tow vehicle, just put on a front end mounted receiver. Then, when you need to maneuver in tight spaces. just drop the tongue jack, disconnect from your tow vehicle. Then, pull the tow vehicle out of where it is at. Turn it around, and go back and hook up to the boat from the front receiver hitch. Then, when you are sitting up and looking straight at where you are going with the boat directly in front of you , just go put it where ever you wish, and then, when it is where it needs to be; drop the tongue jack, disconnect the boat and go park the tow vehicle. Take care |

I bought a Trax Power Dolly, received it yesterday and it works like a champ. It’ll even move my the tongue on my tandem 90 degrees to the side with no effort.

I have the Trailer Valet 5x. It works well getting my 1880 (single axle trailer) into the single stall garage. I back it up to the garage entrance and then use the Valet to move it into place. I don't have the drill attachment. What I really like is that I can pull the boat out of the garage to work on it or give myself more free space in the garage without having to hook up the truck. I also like that I now pull my trailer up to the truck instead of doing the forward back dance trying to get the truck hitch under the tongue.
The only thing I don't like is how it mounts to the side of the trailer frame. I didn't want to damage the road armor on the trailer so I tried to use some rubber pads to protect them. That didn't work out too well as I had to crank down on the bracket bolts to get the bracket solid on the frame. When I took it off before storage I noticed that the trailer c channel deformed a bit on the back side of the frame. So I am either going to see if I can mount to the swing tongue or create a backing plate to sandwich between the frame and the back mounting brackets or I may just scrap the brackets and use thick plate steel to spread the load.
