Default Lund compartment shock Lift Problems

Not sure if that is the right name, the lift that holds the compartments open is what I am talking about. Third one gone bad in less than two year and I don't open them a million times. The weight of the hatch is enough to make them close. Anyone one else have those issues ?

Have experienced this but mine take years to lose strength. Wet carpet doesn't help either.

Maybe try getting something with more pounds of thrust and in stainless if you haven't tried this already.

Be cautious with HD shocks. They will put more stress on the mountings! Maybe ask Lund what you should use. Sounds like it is a flaw. What year and which compartments? Large lids or all? Bob

I had a problem with water soaked carpet preventing the center rod locker from staying up. I replaced the struts with the same brand one torque size higher and that has solved the issue.

Bob that is a good point. Its a 2018 and first it was on the port storage side from day 1, now its the starboard side and the same on the rod locker. I can already see it flexing the glass on the rod locker on the one of them (2)

Lund won't ship a new one have to go through the hassle of a 2 hour trip to take it to the dealer so may be easier to just buy them.

Thanks to the other posters to this thread for the info, experiences and the link.

My Polar Kraft center rod locker uses two long springs instead of the shock struts. At first I thought maybe not so good but after 5 years of use they have performed flawlessly. So you might want to consider changing to springs instead of shock struts. Probably a lot cheaper too.

You should send them to bbheli because his 2018 LUND parts are giving him trouble...
