Default Speedometer & Trim Guage in Dash

I am trying to save a 7 hour drive from where I purchased the boat.
This is for a YarCraft 2012 186 . Merc 150 4 stroke 2014

The speedometer on the dash does not read. Back by all the hoses I found one that is not connected. The dia. is about the dia. of a pen or so. Where does that get attached on the motor.

The trim gauge on the dash always reads up. The gauges are analog not digital.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mark,
If you are in Mounds View any one around can help you with your issue.

On a Mercury engine, the pitot water pick up coming into the engine is on the front side of the lower unit. It will be a small hole facing forward. Then, the outlet for that pressure is up just under the cowl on the engine.

On most engines that use an analog trim gauge, there is a variable resistor that is mounted to the side of the motor and as the spring loaded variable resistor moves, the current running through the resistor is coupled to the trim gauge and causes it to move.

I am guessing that the connector might be disconnected off of the side of the motor.

Hannays in St. Anthony sold Yar Craft. Nelson Marine in White bear lake sell Mercury motors.
Rapid Sports in Ham Lake sell mercury motors as well.

So, if you are in Mounds view you are within 20 minutes of folks who can help you.

Good luck

I am in MV. If I make the 7 hour round trip Kovash will do the work no charge/warranty. If I can do it myself or for not too much I will pay. I will contact Hannay's.

If you were to guess how much would this cost?
