Northern IL Southern WI Fishing Seminar
Our club, the National Athletic Club (okay, we're not really all that athletic, it's a very old club, and so are most of the members) is looking to schedule a fishing seminar, as we have done the past three years. We'd like to have Capt. Walt Koch back for a presentation on fishing Lake Delavan, and maybe show us a couple of line rigging techniques that work for him on that lake.
It looks like we have a choice between Sat., Feb. 21 or Sun., Feb. 22, mid-afternoon. This would be a one-hour presentation, no door charge, with a raffle ($5 a ticket, $20 for six). Grand prize is a half-day on the water, guided by Capt. Walt. Full cash bar for those who like to enjoy an adult beverage or two. We'll put some coffee out, too. In the past couple of years, we have gotten a few WCers at this event, and I'd really like to meet more of you there. So, I thought I'd throw out the date choices to see if there would be a preference among WCers who might be inclined to attend. The club is located on the beautiful south shore of Fox Lake, in Fox Lake, Illinois. Thank you for your input!

H20,
My preference would be Saturday. I enjoyed last year's program. Nimstug |

I'm OK with either day.
Maybe see if you can talk MERCONLY into bringing his 1875 ProGuide over for folks to get their eyeballs on? HRG

Nimstug, looking forward to seeing you again. Some guys at the club are preferring Sunday, as they often have to work Saturdays. But still open to Saturday. HRG, I don't know whether FLH will bring the boat or not, but I plan on asking them to sponsor our event. Maybe Brannon will show up with a boat. I have not asked, so they could not have either accepted nor declined. Either way, I look forward to meeting one of the WC legends next month.

Just a little update on this, I think we're going to go with Sunday for this event, as some of our club members work Saturdays. Hope you can still make it, Nimstug. HRG, I made a phone call to MERCONLY today, and chances look pretty good that he will bring a boat for us all to gawk at.
Further details to follow.

Where is this located? I work in Chicago and live in NW Indiana. I am originally from downstate so I am not all that familiar with Northwestern Suburbs.

Fox Lake, Illinois. Not far from the cheddar curtain (Wisconsin Border). It's about 1 1/2 hours from the Loop in easy traffic.

Waterboy,
Will Cap't Walt be giving a different seminar then 2 years ago? We really enjoyed him, but would want to learn some new stuff. We actually won his guide raffle and enjoyed the day with him on the Fox. Mama Norts |

Quote:
Capt Walt has three different presentations for three different lakes. Two years ago, when you won the guided trip with Capt. Walt (I remember that) he spoke on the Fox Chain of Lakes. Last year was on Lake Geneva, and this year will be on Delavan. He gears his presentations to the lake he is presenting on, and how he approaches that particular lake at different times during the season. I enjoyed meeting you and the Mr. two years ago, and I hope to see you again this year.
