Well here in my house we call CNBC the liberal (lower cased on purpose) channel and never watch it!

The govt puts so dang many taxes on gas that they are the ones driving up the price. Shouldn't the oil companies have a right to make a profit? Would you be surprised to know that there are more taxes on a gallon of gas then there are profits for the oil co?

And would you be surprised to know that the taxes are PAID to the UNITED STATES government. While the profits go over sea's.

This debate can last forever. This gas thing smells exactly the way Enron did before they collapsed after their "rolling blackouts" price fixing scandal.

Can ya give me a ballpark idea of what diesel prices are running around your area right now? Suprisingly, they are down below regular gas prices here in Okieland which has not happened in quite a few years. Gonna be making my way to LOTW in two weeks, just wondering what diesel fuel is running up that way too!
Thanks

REW,

I just talked to my friend that owns a large service station here in the suburbs. He told me that it's going to get insane in the next 2 to 3 weeks. Based on his wholesale price coming in for the weekend, expect $3.25 - $3.30 for regular by the time I get back from fishing.

Can still find it for $2.85/gal (87) here in parts of PGH but it is set to rise.

I imagine the milder winter for the northeast may have had something to do with the lower diesel costs we are seeing. A lot of people in the northeast use fuel oil to heat their homes and its production competes directly with diesel fuel production and causes a switchover in the refineries. Supplies were probably adequate with fuel oil to switch over to diesel earlier. Just a wild guess on my part though.
