Lacquer and enamel do not like each other. Not even a little bit. It appears we both learned that the same way.

Lacquer thinner attacks many different plastics and other petroleum based "stuff". No reason why clear lacquer wouldn't do the same.

On the gold powder coat jigs I always spray a very light coat first to kind of seal the base coat. Then second coat another fairly light coating of clear lacquer.

Sorry for the late reply pooch. I haven't been on the HGT forum in a while. That color is called smoke. I got it from TJ's just like your paint in the original post. The jig is made by a local Charter Guy. I have been really happy with them. Its all I use on Detroit and Saginaw any more.

I've not been to HGT for months so I apologize. Home Depot has rattle can colors in Lacquer. I use clear gloss.

I try to spray a bunch of jigs hanging close to each other to avoid so much waste/over spray.

Got a few poured, painted, and tied. Going to give them a try at Devils Lake next weekend. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Not my intent. I pour a good glass of whiskey and I can tie jigs for a couple of hours. My peace and quiet!
