Default Where’s the best place to mount a Humminbird Ethernet switch?

I have a Triton 216 that I bought new in 2017. I had my dealer network my 2 Humminbird Helix units, a 998 and Ultrex with Ipilot link, external GPS receiver. When they installed the 5 port Ethernet switch they put it up under the bow panel on a piece of wood and just laid it in there. I always have a problem in rough water with the Ipilot disconnecting and connecting and loosing GPS signal a lot. I tried to tie down the Ethernet switch to secure it but it doesn’t seem to be working. I can’t believe that I paid to have it rigged that way and had I know it was done that way, I would have said something. Is this a common place to mount that switch? Thanks

That's where I've always had it in the Rangers I've had. I've never had that issue.

Has it been secured down somehow or just laying loose?

On my Lund Impact, I put the 5 port switch under the bow panel, but I screwed it down and have never had an issue.

Maybe the clean up kid got a temporary promotion to a rigger during a busy time.

Ask the dealer to show you the page in the Ethernet module instruction manual for this particular example of his/her approved mounting.

Might as well skip the wood and just hang it by the wires.

Thanks. I didn’t think it was the right way to install it, maybe the easiest but definitely not the correct way.

Sorry...just got home. I'm not sure, but I think it's secured? I'll check in the morning. I'm in my pj's now, so I'm not going outside. I will check it for you though and take a picture for you.
