trailer back up lights

have a need for temporary back up lights on the boat trailer. drive way is dark at the road and difficult to see plus close to garage.
I am sure someone has a clever way to do this.
ideas?

How about a pair of lights like this, but rather than going thru the process of wiring them in to the backup-light circuit, just attach a 12V cigarette lighter plug, and get power that way? Maybe even mount them on a magnet, like the tow-truck guys?

This works for my situation........ mounted a motion dector on my garage with dual lights that is adjusted for a distance and area. Lotsa light.

I have lights on the garage too....the drawback is having to look at them when backing up! I had a Coleman popup camper once that had reverse lights wired right into the plug. I can't remember the configuration, but it would be worth taking a look at. I'm pretty sure it was a straight flat 4 harness with an extra wire. Call an RV dealer, I'm sure they could help.

Convert to a 6 pin connector and wire in the back up lights that way.

or a "flat 5" connector - got my used boat and Prestige trailer home,
and couldn't figure out what the fifth pin was for - it doesn't have brakes.
Then found out it has backup lights they appear to be same as the
livewell lights in the boat - one each side behind the wheel.

A couple of ideas.
1. Remember, you don't need to use your tow vehicle to power lights. You can use your boat battery to power backup lights when backing your boat.

2. If you have a hand held spot light and rod holder, you can drop the spot light in the rod holder, aim as needed - hop back in your tow vehicle and back away.

3. Depending on the tow vehicle, you can use magnet mounted flood light on the roof of your tow vehicle plugged into your cigarette lighter to light the way.

4. You can use work lights or flood lights on a stand that are plugged into your garage outlet and aimed down the driveway to illuminate your backing area.

I wanted lights that I could turn on from inside my vehicle so I wired up two flood lights in side my shop and out side my shop that turn on when I hit the Garage Door Opener. Works great, plus I do not have to worry about making sure to shut them off. Most if not all GDO's have a built in timer that shuts them off.
