Thats fine with me. All it does is identify the computer, not the person, which means if I were to come on here under an assumed name as a guest, that IP addy would identify my computer as being the same computer that JLDII posts from. Same if a single person comes on here as any one of several guest names using the same computer.

And gives a hacker or anyone a direct address to your computer instead of having to search out IP's. If you ticked someone off on here, all they would have to do is run a denial of service program and enter your IP address as the target.

Where is it? You said "fine with me". Post it. It's not a big deal...

And here I thought when I opened this thread I'd find a new technique for trolling for walleyes.

Pretty sure that's only if you're using a Static IP address.

I went out with a girl once who turned into a troll, but that's another story.

I think we have all learned to identify the posts looking to start trouble. Sometimes it's the same guys, sometimes it's not. Maybe if we can't ignore these people /posts we should just buy a book and stay off the internet?

No, while a static IP would be the best case because it would be static and always the same. As for cable users from say Comcast, their IPs can stay the same for very long periods. Comcast has the option to change your IP daily IF they want. I have had my IP the same for about 1 1/2 years, and I have a non-static Comcast cable IP

Just curious Juls, can you PM me what you have for my IP address to see if you get the same IP that I have here.

Any advanced user can change their IP address in many ways. So 40% of users would or could have fake IPs in about 5 to 10 mins of work.

All this sillyness with having ip addresses posted is ridiculous. Never gonna happen.

As far as guests' posts, I personally enjoy them especially when they get someones panties all bunched up. Some do have a bit of a contrarian point of view and most have a ton to offer here. Lighten up, and enjoy the best web site on the net.

I don't think registration helps much, Here is a copy of another site that I visit numbers from 15 minutes ago,

Currently Online: 1545
Number of Members: 34,368
Total Threads: 271,210
Total Posts: 2,593,101

This site requires registration and it allows no bashing no politics and keep it clean. It is just as ferocious as WC can be but most everyone knows everyone who is anyone in the fishing realm of this particular site. No one gets challenged to duels here cause it is a small world. It is not walleye or bass site although they are discussed. Not sure how their numbers compare as far as number of members to WC. WC is also a wealth of information without registration, so not much difference.
