Question Is fishing allowed in Michigan

I was planning on a trip to the Detroit River in Michigan. I understand the state is 'locked down'. So can I fish? I was planning to stay with my daughter in Novi.

My brother works in Muskegon MI and advised their were a "armada" of boats fishing on the lake today. He said at least three dozen boats are out fishing.
My marina is closed and I cannot get my boat serviced so I may try to do it myself. Weather is great right now.

Default RE: charters closed

Thanks for the update. Are bait shops closed as well? E.g. there is a bait shop at the Wyandotte launch. I thought they also take the launch fees?

The bait shop I use in Bay City is open, but that's becuse it is also a grocery. A shop that only sells bait is probably closed.

As long as you keep 6' of separation on land and in the boat. DNR is threatening to shut everything down if people do not quit disobeying the distancing laws in place. I'd say there is probably a 50-50 chance they will eventually.

Detroit / wayne county is the epicenter of the virus in Michigan. Id think twice before coming. You touch the post at the ramp, you get a cup of coffee or snack, you pump gas, etc. - all kinds of ways to pick it up.

The guidelines for the state are to stay 6 ft apart and only be fishing with someone that you live with. I was out a few days ago and saw so many 18 ft boats with 4-5 guys in the boat that it wont surprise me if they shut it down entirely.,

Default Well, it looks like I won't be fishing

I was planning to stay with my daughter in Novi. But she said not to come. The only question I have now: Is there anyway to get my money back for an out-of-state annual fishing license??

I'd search the MIDNR website because I remember there being some talk of refunding those licenses.
