Default Line for hole hopping

Hey guys I use braid for all my jigging in the boat or in the shanty. But when you are outside in extreme conditions what line are you guys using. I would imagine a 6-8lb mono would work pretty great. Do you use the ice specific lines? I also considered fluorocarbon but I really only use it as a leader anymore with braid. Its been a handful of years since I spooled a reel with fluoro and it became a twisted mess eventually on the spool. Are the new ice specific flours pretty good for hole hopping? Thanks for any input going on a trip this weekend or next and want to spool a back up rod with one or the other.

(Will be chasing walleyes of course. Mostly on the smaller side were I will be fishing)

I do what you do except I use mono up to a 6 leader of flouro. I have noticed the mono collects ice more than the flouro.

Berkeley Trilene Micro Ice Line. I will use florocarbon as a leader sometimes, but it becomes very kinky in cold weather and coils off like a rope if you spool up with it.

Agree with the micro ice line. I do like a tiny barrel swivel 8 above a clip to reduce my attractor lure from spinning.

On my little jig rod, I tie straight to the jig.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I got some Mico ice Trilene and some 100% fluorocarbon ice Trilene for leader.

A friend of mine said he likes nanofilament and it ices up less than mono. I've been using 6lb mono and haven't spooled anything up with nanofil yet.
