Default Gun Storage

This may qualify for dumb question of the month but here goes. We sold the house in 2 days. Now were in process of temporarily moving to our camp until heading south for the winter. I have a relatively small 16 gun Browning safe. I live in NW PA, the camp will not be heated once we head south. If I put a Goldenrod in my safe along with silica will my guns be okay? I talked to a Goldenrod tech and he said Id be okay but recommended the addition of silica.

Not familiar with the golden rod, but I store steel for piece work I do in an old chest freezer, just use a 25 watt appliance bulb.

I use a Goldenrod in my safe and have a tub of silica also (as a back-up). It works perfectly.

Cheap source for silica - the crystal type of kitty litter.

I store all my stuff, rifle scopes and other things, in the same place within my garage.

I hope you will fit the weapon with a proper scope. When I started to use moderate, fixed power scopes on my deer rifles I discovered that they shot just as accurately at normal ranges as they did with higher power scopes. I tend to now and then check in day and night on my favourite review sites and see what is new. In some cases, they shot better. Some of my best 100-yard groups have come from rifles wearing 4x scopes. I'll admit that it came as something of a surprise, but seeing is believing and from what I saw I'd not hesitate to shoot at a deer 250 yards (or even a bit more) distant with one of these rifles.

I also use the Goldenrod, probably wouldn't hurt to throw in some silica as others are suggesting.
