Anyone else like me?

I'm getting ready for a musky fishing trip to Lake Namakagon in October and have been reviewing my musky lures. I have two Lakewood tackle boxes that are filled with different types of lures but the funny thing is when on the lake I find myself only using 2-4 different lures. Last year I caught my largest musky when we took a break from musky fishing and were bass fishing. Caught him on a #3 Mepps silver blade/black skirt. Also caught a large northern on the same Mepps. So does anyone else find themselves only using a hand full of lures when you have tackle boxes full of others ?

Less is often more; that being said having access to a wide variety of baits on a trip is good thing. Bucktails are usually the go to on a CA trip but I have caught many fish on Jerk Baits, gliders, Bulldawgs Cranks etc... when the fish don't seem to want to chase something going straight. In August I was in Canada and we were moving and catching fish on bucktails. We saw a fish surface near an area we just fished and did not get a response from. We circled back and I tossed on a Bulldawg and caught this girl. Always good to listen to the fish and give them what they want when what you are trying is not working...

Re: Just several lures - pretty common experience. My best success has been with smaller lures, my own tied spinners, although I have to admit I do not much target muskies much any more. Back when I really really did, a Heddon Lucky 13 was my favorite bait - 3-3/4" or so long.

I probably bring 100 baits and use 20. I could seriously get away with 5-10. Here are the must haves:

Twin 10's
Twin 8's
Showgirl
Top Raider
Shadzilla 9.5in original
Hellhound
Shallowraider
Pearson Grinder
Slopmaster

This would do the trick for me now that I think about it!

It's called confidence baits... everyone probably has them for walleye, musky, salmon, bass etc.

WALI4VR Namakagon treated our group well. We had approx. 60 guys go up and 15 muskies were caught.
