REV 4 19p 5980 RPMs 2 guys half a tank of fuel runs 57.5. Great holeshot and very solid mid range acceleration. Was hoping for 60 mph but thinking thats the prop.....

Your stock props may be true or may not be. I've yet to run a stock Bravo1 FS that can't benefit being trued and tuned by a good prop shop. I've have Mark Croxton tune many, Bravos, a Rev4 21, Powertech RKR4 21p. He says most are not true from the factory, a lab finished Merc prop may be the exception, as you are paying them extra for that service. Added tip cup and a hydraulic jackplate will get you a bit more speed and bite from most any stock SS prop. Give Mark's Props a try.

Boat: 620 fs pro, livewells empty, 1/2 tank of fuel, kicker, full of musky tackle and just me in the boat

The boat came to me with a 23p tempest, as you would expect the hole shot was horrible and acceleration was very slow. Top speed was 63 mph

Tried a 22p bravo 1 this weekend, conditions were not the best as it was windy and a little choppy. 5500 rpms 58 mph. Hole shot, mid range, bow lift, stern lift, handling were all noticeably better.

You might want to try a 23 Solas Scorpion. I've tested six other props and the Solas was by far the best. This was the last prop I tested but had used it on my 2013 620 with a Yamaha 250 SHO. I didn't think I would be able to turn it based on the posts on line but gave it a spin on the weekend. Ranger 620 Pro 1/2 tank fuel no kicker (Minn Kota Vantage).

The Bravo's and Solas were tested on a river in current others were on a lake (slightly lower elevation).

Tempest 21 - 58 mph - 5900
Bravo I LT 22 - 58.5 mph into current and 60.4 with current - 6000
Bravo I LT 20 - 60 mph into current and 62.3 with current - 6050 -6100
Rev 4 20 - 60 mph - 5850
Fury 22 (3 blade) - 58 mph - 5750
Eco 23 - 58.5 - 5700 - 5800
Solas Scorpion 23 - 64.2 mph into current and 66.0 with current - 5875

The hole shot was good and bow lift was noticeably better than all the other props I tested.

Could anyone explain to me the pros and cons of the new V8 300 verado vs the previous V6 300 verado? Overall performance? Steering? Fuel economy? Reliability? Etc?

I had put out a thread like this specific to the boat earlier but didn't get any responses that were specific to both the V8 300 Verado or Pro XS and the 620 so I was curious if I broadened the range a bit.

If you have a 620 AND the new V8 Verado 300 or Pro XS 300, I would be very interested in your feedback.

If you have any boat and the new V8 Verado 300 or Pro XS 300, I would still be interested (although realize the that setup on a different boat could be quite different than on a 620)

Thanks for any feedback anyone may be able to give.
Tried several with that motor. Rev 4

Lots of info out there, just Google it. I opted for the 300 V8 instead of the 350 L6 on my rig (there is no 350 V8). Some may say it was foolish not to max out the HP (generally I would wholeheartedly agree), but I liked the V8’s:

1. Increased lower end torque

2. Improved quietness

3. Larger alternator which helps to keep battery charged which is a particular concern when using the Verado’s power steering to steer the kicker motor

4. Simpler motor sans supercharger which means there are fewer components to break and replace so it should be cheaper to maintain

5. Various other more insignificant differences (refer to my separate posts)

I’m also just generally a sucker for new tech and there was speculation that the L6 Verado might be discontinued. There are no significant differences in steering or fuel economy that I’m aware of. There may be a slight fuel economy advantage with the V8, it is lighter, but I think that’s debatable.

I’m happy with the performance so far but I only have a few hours on it.

And for general awareness, a 24p Bravo FS is working pretty well on my setup (I have a 1.85:1 gear case). I do have too much slip though (~19%) so I might need to have more cup added.
