This is one coyote ugly motor......black motor with white side panels and the most important marketing aspect printed vertically instead of horizontally. I guess most Etec 2 stroke owners have a permanent crick in their neck from turning their head to the left to make sure it is their boat. Scratch that, no one else has to make sure....there is only one hanging off of a boat . :muahaha:

PjShorthorn :rock-on:
I actually think they are good looking motors. I know one guy on here posted a pic of his pretty blue 1875 crossover that had the etec colored matched and that's one of the best looking combos I have ever seen IMO.

I must agree...........when the G2's first came out I thought.....errrr different for sure but now I really like the look.......almost wants me to trade in my G1 E-TEC for a G2 unit.

At the boat show last week my wife commented on how ugly the new Merc's look but I'm guessing it a design that will grow on you...

Very much comparable by the manufactures data.......can you trust either one of them...... I like the Boattest.com because it's independent testing from a outside firm. But thanks for the trouble finding these links and proving E-TEC's stand up to Yammy in every regard.

Actually, I was showing how Yamaha holds up to your God-like Etec afflictions and is $800 cheaper to rig. Actually, it outpaces the Etec.....GASP!!!!

More apple to apples there. Sho the Yamaha performance motor. Way better mpg unless trolling Faster holeshot for e tec and nearly same top speed

Funny Bobby doesn’t trust the manufacture numbers but loves boat test.

I also used to think the g2 was ugly. It grew on me also.

No, ACTUALLY this thread is about how much the E-TEC G2 300 hp dominated the Yammy..... :)

At trolling speeds? The 300 you don’t have and one of yamahas oldest models?

Lol, that's what I care about....a 300 at idle speeds and MPG. All you're doing Bobby is proving your brand loyalty and refusal to look at the facts. You can't compare the two tests because the numbers came from two different sources under two different testing scenarios, of which neither test stated the parameters. Sounds very scientific to me but hey, what do I know. Everyone on here knows you're that master of knowledge
