I am thinking about purchasing a 2018 8 cylinder 10 speed F-150.
My question is have any of you 2018 F-150 owners experienced one of the following problems noted by an owner on youtube? 1) A warped dash on passenger side? 2) A whining/shrill sound you can hear from the engine at 1600/1800 RPM? 3) A loose trim by the steering column that rattles? 4) Excess burning of oil when engine was breaking in 1-2 quarts fairly regular? Supposedly these were mentioned in TCB or Technical Bulletins sent out by Ford? First I heard of it other than this individual on youtube airing his complaints with his new 2018 F-150 at that time. Most messages have nothing but good things to say on Walleye Central regarding the F-150 when I've gone through past posts. Just wondering if I'm missing something? I tow an 18 1/2 Aluminum Crestliner so it should be no big deal to tow for the truck I am thinking about buying. Thanks for any feedback/insights |

I have that same truck with 9800 miles on it I have none of these problems and have had truck for 2 years in May. I know very little miles just basically use to pull boat and snowmobile trailer. Not towing I can get 20+mpg. I would much rather have the naturally asperated engine than the turboed engines. I traded a 2013 with 5 L and 6 speed trans very happy with that also. I know I'll catch **** from all the eco-boost fans. good luck!

Way late to this thread, but I have all of the above mentioned issues with my 2018 5.0 f150. Plus the what sounds like a spray paint can being shaken under the hood under certain acceleration and deceleration. Most are fairly certain it has something to do with the VCT and timing chain slapping. Ford says everything is a "normal" characteristic of the truck so they wont do anything about it.
As soon as my warranty is up it's getting traded in. Won't be buying another ford anytime soon. |
