This recall has been going on since last year. I had 3 units recalled - 2 were the larger red extinguishers and one was a smaller white unit (boat size). I ended up calling Kidde and talked to a rep. gave them the # and a few days later FedEX delivered replacement units. Put the old units in the boxes, slapped the return authorization on and called for a pickup. The only thing I noticed is that the old units had some plastic handles/nnozzles - the new units are metal.

Well crap. That doesn’t bode well for Kidde.
Did your replacement have plastic or metal handles? I would

Thanks for bringing this back up did not know about it there are more covered then what is on there list. I have one from 1996 and it is part of the recall even thou it was not listed had to call to find out as the handle looked like one of the recall diagrams. So if it not listed and just looks like the plastic handle of the recall give them a call.

Did this about 4 years ago, including the one in the boat. Takes 3-4 weeks to get the replacements

Yes, thanks for reposting! I completely forgot that this was posted years ago, thought it was a fresh so checked all of mine in the house, no recalled ones. Then I noticed that this was a very old post and vaguely remember checking first go around. Today I thought again and realized I forgot to check the boat and small travel trailer. Both are recalled models! And ironically those are the ones I would be highly likely to someday have to use. Hopefully they are sending good ones out by now.

I posted this on 1/23/2021 and thought I would let you all know that the replacement fire extinguisher for my boat was received this afternoon. Hopefully, if needed, will work as intended. Stay safe and be prepared.
