Genesis Maps/Gen 2, Lake Insight Pro Chip

I have a Lowrance Gen 2 touch. I recently picked up a Lowrance Lake Insight PRO High-Definition Lake Maps V16 Chart Card

I guess my unit will do live mapping, I picked up a high speed 32G chip, have both chips installed maps show up from the chip.

I looked online and only further confused myself, I structure fish inline alot for musky and believe this Genesis live mapping will be helpful.

What do I need to do to get this to work, record etc?

Ever since I have had kids I have not kept up with all this stuff, I'm just happy to be able to go fishing when I can.

I believe Genesis Live is only available for HDS Gen 3 and newer units.

You would be able to use CMAP Genesis - record your data onto an SD card, upload it, and get it back as a map that you download onto your SD card - but that is not a "live" process.

You could also check out the CMAP Genesis Social Maps layer, but if you have the Insight Map chip, it's probably not of much use to you.

I guess Live was the wrong term (told ya I was behind the times)

So I record while fishing, upload and then download a new map?

Yeah. Basically that's all there is to it.

There are all kinds of options, you can make the data public, and it will update the Social Map layer, as well as give you a map to use from that data, or you can buy the yearly subscription.

The advantages of the subscription are -

- Ability to keep your map data private

- Ability to merge all of your sonar data as you record/upload into a single map for download

- The addition of bottom hardness and vegetation layers.

Boat is going in for Bimini and top (12 years late but better late than never) but once I get it back I'll be engaging in this.
