Heard too many horror stories about them anyway.
rks,
Too bad you didn't join us at the Lake Delavan Get ToGether we had in early October, "Walleyeguide" Frank Gailoretto had a MX1825 in the water for test rides.
Give him a shout to see what they are bringing to the Milwaukee Boat Show.

Does anyone have feedback on how the MX1825 handles rough water? How does it perform with wave wackers? I'm fishing out of an old 1775 side console and looking to upgrade at some point.

Got to see the new MX1825 this week at the Milwaukee boat show and and I can say it's a winner. Wish they had the full walk thru on the floor instead of the single console. Went over every nook and crany inside and out. Amazed at the rod storage for an 18 foot boat. 8 foot plus will fit in the side box. Great livewell/baitwells. Could only find two thing to nit pick on. The stern storage compartments were very unfinished looking with raw glass. A couple of drop in liners would do wonders. The other was the trailer. The MX1825 sat on top of the wheel fenders on it's trailer. The deeper WX1850, that was inches away next to it, looked to be 5 inches shorter, because it sat between and below the fenders. Being higher could hinder shallow launches. And yes, both trailers' frames and fenders were the same height but the brackets to hold the bunks up were much longer on the MX trailer. Now if I could only sell my lot on Green Lake to come up with the down payment.

Looks like the MX is a competitor to the Tuffy X190 to me. The tuffy has a bigger deck, so possibly a better casting boat, but the MX would suit those who like to troll better. Is that a fair guess, looking at the specs?

Maybe they should have used an axle from a WX1990 or MX2100 trailer which, are WIDER than both the MX1825 or WX1850. Or even a F&S SL1900 which is wider yet or they could have designed a new one for a new boat. That way the boat could be cradled between and below the fenders for a more stable ride and easier launch.

according to the Skeeter specs for that rig, it's already on a 102" wide trailer, which is the widest legal width without needing a permit.

I'd be in trouble already. Illinios is a max trailer width of 8 foot (96"). Another thought. On the boats that sit below the fenders, the inside of the fenders are padded and act as loading guides'. Since the MX sits over the fenders, there are no guides making that much harder to load. And since the trailer is already at 102", any add on guides could put it over the limit of those states with a 102" limit like Wis. Trailer law chart from the American Powerboat Association.

pssst, rks

I've been dragging my 102" trailer all over Illinois. Other than a little "pucker" going thru the toll booths, nobody seems to care.

That was the point I was trying to make. Nobody cares about boat trailers and if they would have added a few inches between the wheel wells so the boat could sit lower, no one would have noticed or cared. Case in point. Look at all the 102" trailers they sell in 96" rule states. A few states are in the process of raising the limit to a full 9 foot (108") and others are selling yearly over width trailer permits. Lots of tuna boats out there that hit the roads. I too drag a "illegal" trailer thru Illinios
