You might as well figure u r pulling a ton 2 short. Boat Motor Trailer gear etc. I bought a new Jeep Cherokee when I bought my 205. Pulled the new rig home from dealers, the Jeep was history after 1st pull. Diesel power pulls her now no sweat. :-)

yep 205 is right on the money 215x is a heavy boat. I tried pulling my Triton with my little toy truck 5 miles to the lake and will never do it again. Don't have the wheel base or the braking power.

2 Short,
Boat, motor and trailer with fuel will be running about 3,800 Lbs.
I have a 205 and tow it with an F150 with ease. A diesel is not needed at all for something this light but it sure would be nice to have one.

Tongue weight may be a bigger issue than pulling power. I do know the boat pulls easier than a 1895 Yarcraft - also a pretty good size boat. The 215 has the liquid filled hubs like the Ranger and that helps it pull easier. I do have a diesel, but that's not needed to pull the 215 by any means. 1/2 ton gas burner would do fine - but may need suspension help in the rear of the pickup. My diesel made 3.5 mpg better pulling 215 than it did pulling the Yarcraft under identical conditions.
