Default Border

I assume even after ice out if the borders are still closed that the resort n lodge owners from the states will still not get in to prep their camps n get them ready for when the borders do open,am I correct on that anyone?

They are working on an exemption for US owners of Canadian businesses that will allow them to enter the country just for this reason. Also, if the borders do not open to tourism it will allow them to check on their camps, perform maintenance etc.

This should be announced any day now.

I'm very doubtful at this point that the border opens in May. I think June is less than 50/50... but May is nearly zero.

If I was to bet, it would be July 1st. I was optimistic previously, but I just don't think it's happening.

That said, I hope against hope that I'm wrong.

We will have to let this thing run its course.thats all tgat can be done.If border stays closed longer so be it. Theres always later in the season to catch up.fall might turn out to be busier this year.I dont think border should make exceptions to let anyone in until we get a all clear even then its still not going to be safe.

I feel for those that can't even get up to their camps at this time. I hope your plan "B" works out.

Default fishing is therapeutic

I am sure there will be some tongue wagging in response to this, but it seems there could be few places safer than a fish camp in a boat fishing all day with only one other person. Seems like they could take your temperature or enact one of the many screenings available to determine that everyone in camp is relatively safe, either at the border or as you arrive at the camp, airbase, whatever. Then you will be quarantined in a cabin with typically a group under 10 and in a boat with one or two other people, all who have been screened for a week. Why not?

I had a conversation with our outfitter about a week plus ago. At that time(thts important as its constantly changing), They felt like as they lived in Wisconsin, but owned a home and an outfitting business in Nakina, they were ALLOWED to come across and go to their 2nd home. But tht was a week plus ago. But for all of us, and im guessing thts most, we need to be flown into our remote camps. I do NOT know if the airway, eg Nakina Air are up and running. If social distancing is still playing a role, no pilot will be flying 4,6,8 guys anywhere. Our group are all from here in Ontario, and i realize Rods subject to the post is the border, i think our trips are so all encompassing, and we also may not be going....we have no border to cross. Just my thoughts. Im thinking we, our outfitters will have a better sense by mid to late April.
