Default Deep V tillers

Hi all, I had a Lund Pro-V 1775 tiller I bought new in 1998 and had it until 2015 at which time I bought a Lund Pro-Guide 1775 tiller (I like my tillers). While the new boat is much roomier and has a wider beam, I'm not impressed at all with its rough water capabilities. It rides high in the water and pounds a lot instead of cutting through the waves.
In fact, if' it's rough, I just don't fish or I slow down and just take my time getting home. Lund of course does not offer the Pro-V any longer in a tiller. I've researched some on what might be out there for a true deep V and really have not seen anything that might be more suitable and qualifies as a true deep V. Does anyone know of any brands that might offer such a boat (I don't believe Alumacraft or Crestliner have what I'm looking for)? I'd be looking for about a 17-19' tiller and likely aluminum (I really don't want to fork over $50k for a glass tiller. I'd be ok with up to $40k fully equipped (boat/motor/trailer/front and back FF's/GPS, bow trolling motor etc). Thanks and I'm looking forward to any replies.

I'd check out the Yar-Craft 1785 BT.

Years ago I had a pre-IPS Pro V 1775 tiller and went to an 1800 tiller w/IPS hull and can relate to what you are experiencing. I thought the 1775 had a better rough water ride than the 1800. Just my opinion.

The 1785 BT is in the same size range as what you have but you will see a night and day difference in ride quality. The Lund is an awesome boat in other regards though. From what I've seen, you should be able to get into an 1785 BT for what you want to spend.

You might consider a Backtroller Avid.

I bought my 1775 in 98 and ran it until 05, then went to and 1800 until last year and went with the 1890 Warrior, It's incredible how much better the Warrior goes through the rough stuff than the Lunds do. There is a cost difference, but I think it's worth it.

last I looked there was a Backtroller Avid for sale on this site. They are sweet. Can sometimes find lightly used ranger tillers for fair price as well.

Buy a used yarcraft or a used Warrior in the tiller versions.

Both wonderful boats that ride smooth and dry and have excellent boat control and fish ability.

Default Tiller

Thanks for the input guys.... If I'd buy a different boat it would be a newer one (if used) than 10-15 years old. I talked to Ryan just now who's selling the Avid. Sounds and looks like a very nice boat but I have 2 reservations. One is the 'bait-well' is not round and does not accept a standard minnow bucket. My Lund has a round one in the back but the front one is oval. If you put minnows in there you'll be trying to catch them all day long to try to get them out of there. I just can't understand what the builders are thinking (sure I have a mesh bag I use but that's still dumb). The other thing is the trailer does not have breaks. I just like the extra security of having the breaks in addition to my tow vehicle stopping for those deer that jump out in front of me.

There was a lake assault in the classifieds days ago. Looked like an amazing tiller boat, just saying. Somebody should buy it and let me backtroll vicariously.

X2. Had mine for about 7 years. Very happy with it. Had it on Oahe and Sakakawea in pretty good waves with no problem. I found a bait bucket that fit when I cut the handle off. I can’t remember nor find on it what the brand is.
