Default Since HB is not available when the rest of the world is.....

Since Humminbird is only available when I am at work and can never ask them a question directly.

I have a Helix 9 SI I purchased last year, that I believe I have kept updated (just did 1.4 i think). I just purchased a Smartstrike for it, and it does not seem to do anything. I cant find any recognition of it in any of the menus!?! Nowhere on the unit does it say Smartstrike.... I understand that most of society understands computer lingo far more than me, but why does this stuff have to so dang difficult to figure out!!! Any help out there? Yes, im frustrated.

Have you tried the HB "contact us" page? Fill out the form on that page and they will respond by email.

Read your owner's manual.

I don't own or use a HB SS card, but you should be (in advanced mode) able to go to the HB Mapping menu tab (press menu 2X) and access the features from there - if you have MORE than one map card - you would need to select that card off the chart tab 1st.

This may help, though it could be older info:

Man - I read the replies. I thought HB was supposed to be easy to use... Doesn't sound too easy to me.
No, I'm not an attorney. Middle name is Lawton - some friends call me 'Law'. Only legal advice I give is, when in doubt, hire an attorney.

That is an optional program for figuring out where the fish are. The deeper you get into technology the more complex it gets. Bob

Download the SmartStrike Helix manual:

That link should popup a download window for you...otherwise it's here: http://www.humminbird.com/Category/S...oduct-Manuals/

...scroll down to "CARTOGRAPHY", click that to pen the sub-menu, then click the link to "SmartStrikeManual_HELIX"

Read it and follow it - it is different from the instructions for the Onix/Solix units.

I found it kinda counter-intuitive too, but followed the directions and it worked just fine Sunday afternoon (and it got me on fish).

One thing: It doesn't work sitting in the garage and you move your cursor to a lake. I needed to be on the lake to get it to work right.

Maybe there's a way to trick it on that last point, but I'm not smart enough to figure it out.
I think I'm angle parked in a parallel parking world.
