I agree.......we camped across America back in '06 and never missed watching TV.

all of these tv's before you buy them are sitting in unheated storage all over the country during even the harshest of winters.

You tv will be fine.

B-man like some stimulation in an un-stimulating situation. B-man like to read books too, but TV nice to have as well.

It's all fine and dandy if you're content with staring at a wall......B-man would rather stare at a wall with a TV on it LOL

1.) No, generally Anonymouse watches the TV AT HOME, to determine what the weather will be like.
If it's going to rain, he doesn't GO camping in the first place.
Is there some fascination to camping IN the rain that Anonymouse seems to have missed?

2.) No to that one as well.
Again, WHY would anyone want to spend 4 days in an ice shanty?
A.) Go home at night and watch TV there, if you must.
B.) Move the shanty - obviously isn't not a good spot or you'd have limited out after 2 days.
C.) Find some friends and learn to play Canasta, Euchre, Sheepshead, Poker, Go Fish, or even Monopoly.
Surely there is SOMETHING more creative to do than stare at a boob box for 4 days straight.
(Says the guy who watches 50 hours of TV per week.)

Not sure if you are familiar with what a "Zen State" is, but that is WHY Anonymouse goes ice fishing in the first place.
When you hit that Zen state, the horizon shifts to ice of gold and sky of purple and all is right with the world for long stretches of time - usually only interupted by a bite or some idiot stopping by and talking to you.
TV just isn't conducive to achieving a Zen State, although staring at a wall can very easily be.

The reading a book was a solid idea though.
Might have to try that sometime.
Does it have to be a fishing book?
