Default Mercury Rev 4 / Ranger 621

I was told by John at DAH for a long time that I needed a Mercury REV 4 prop tuned by him for my Ranger 621 VS. I have a 300 hp Yamaha and like all Rangers with this motor it came with the Yamaha 21P 3 blade prop. I always wanted to try a 4 blade but they are a lot of money just to test. This winter I found the prop I was looking for on Ebay and John had already tuned it. On Saturday I finally got a chance to get out on Green Bay and test her out. I expected to see an improvement but frankly I was blown away. I went from needing 3500 to 3800 rpm to get on plane down to 2000. I took her quartering into a solid 1 foot chop and she cut the waves like butter. I only go WOT a couple times a year at best so I really don't care about that number. I am so happy. Thank you John from DAH

The Yamaha Pro Series acts a lot like a Tempest. That is a lot of boat for ANY 3 blade prop. DAH does an excellent job both on their Tempest and on the REV4 (the blades are very similar). DAH has really good success with their Rev4 props.

It is not always about top speed, rather many of the benefits are during normal driving and rougher water. The correct prop can really make a boat come to life! I'm glad you like it.

Most people don't get a chance to go from a decent prop for their boat to ones that really makes it shine. Until you actually experience this, it is hard to believe that the CORRECT prop can make that much difference. Thanks for sharing your story.

What pitch REV 4 are you using? I have the same setup and have been considering a 4 blade.

What size Rev4 did you end up with. I am lucky I only live 20 minutes from John's shop. I picked up a 19P Rev4 off Scream and Fly that I was going to have John go over till I found a 20P worked by him this past winter in perfect condition. I can't wait to run it next week.

Default Mercury Rev 4

My prop is a 19P Rev 4. The 3 blade Yamaha prop was a 21P

That 19 Rev 4 is a go to prop from 300hp-350hp 621. They work real good right outa the box too.

I tried calling DAH on Wednesday and it sounds like they are not accepting any props due to Medical issues :/. Not sure if this is the end of an extremely competent prop tuner or not.

Pretty common to see a repsonse like that. Why anyone would run a 3 blade on a ranger multi species is beyond me. They suck.

3 blade tempest on my 2013 620VS w/ 250 Verado Pro did the job fine with 2 people and loaded down.
