Default Anyone have a GMC Arcadia?

Thinking of looking at them as the better half’s vehicle, but have never had a SUV before. It should handle pulling the boat if need be, but that’s not it’s primary purpose. Just wondering if anyone has one and their experience.

The Acadia is a decent vehicle. It will pull a boat depending on your motor choice and boat weight. A few of them have issues with front cover leaks and transfer case leaks, as well as the GM oil cooler tube leaks.

Good to know! The six cylinder should pull it if needed, but will only be tasked with it for a few times a year.

Default Gmc

Can't speak of the Arcadia but I have a GMC Canyon truck with the V6 and I can say it is underpowered when pulling my Alumacraft 165 Competitor. Has to downshift way too much especially on any incline. On straight roads with no hills, it pulls great. I have 100,000 miles on a 2016 and haven't had any issues with it. Good luck with your search.

My only experience with them is as a rental car (I travel for work, and rent cars often). I don't think they are very comfortable, transmission does like to shift a lot, and they aren't particularly fuel efficient.

I'd take a Tahoe over one ten times out of ten.

If you get an Acadia make sure to get the one that came with factory trailer package=better cooling, oem trailer wiring factory. When you research specs you will find quite a difference between with and without trailer pkg

Default History of Issues

If you're looking at the 3.6 liter, there are well-documented oil consumption issues with these motors, which leads to engine failures of varying degrees because of the owner's failures to maintain adequate oil levels. There are so many parts of this engine that are dependent upon oil pressures, and low oil levels and/or used up, dirty oil will affect the running of the motor. Even though these issues affect many vehicles, this class of vehicle from GM (Traverse, Acadia, Enclave) and (Equinox, Terrain, Encore) has had well-documented issues with no support from GM.

Best advice....check the oil level REGULARLY, and no more than 3500-4000 miles between oil changes.
