Every time I flip the switch to turn on the livewell the fuse breaks immediately. So far I have tried replacing the live well pump and also replacing the switch. Any ideas what to look at next? Also I have tried putting in a bigger fuse. That doesn’t break but the pump still won’t work.

Is there one of these timer cartridges near the switch, maybe it's gone bad?

If its not the pump or the switch, its probably the wire or some related component. Something is grounding/shorting out on the path of the wire. Finding where the issue is will require some work to figure out. (Pulling apart panels and paths etc). Just work down the wire methodically and inspect from end to end.

A quick test to ensure its the wire, is the run a new wire from the switch to the pump and turn it on after its all connected and safe. If it works, then you know there is a wire problem.

Yes there is. Would that still cause the fuse to break if i put the switch to manual instead of auto?

Putting in a bigger fuse that does not blow is asking for a fire. It is a simple circuit. Gotta be a short somewhere in the wiring if the components are OK. Unhook the pump, if the fuse does not blow then go to the next component and unhook it, if the fuse still does not blow then go to the next component.

If you replaced the switch and the pump, then the only thing left is the timer (if you have one) or the wire between components somewhere. Like was mentioned, run a new wire loose in the boat from the switch to the pump and see what happens.

Don't burn down your boat!

If it's wired like this, it looks like even the manual-side has a connection thru the timer pod. I'd start like SCJ suggested, and run a temporary set of wires direct, and see if the switch still works.

Walleye,
In the livewell circuit you have just a few items.

1. Live well switch.
2. Fuse
3. If you have a timer on the boat - you have the timer.
4. Live well pump.
5. Interconnecting wires and connections.

You have replace the switch, fuse, and the pump.

That leaves you with the wires, connectors and the timing unit.

Run a pair of wires from battery ground and the livewell switch direct to the pump to double check that the new pump is working fine.

Then, if you go back to your boats wiring, the only other thing is the livewell timer module.
So, bypass the timer module and check to see if the pump works or not.

If the pump now works, install a new timer module.

If the pump still does not still work, then pull new wring from the source of 12 volts on the console fuse block to the rest of the circuits.
