Default Painting deep water jigs

I have some 1.5 to 2.5 oz assorted style jigs for trout/salmon on superior and in deep water, 50-125 fow maybe.

Some need to be painted and wondering what paint and color will show up the best at them depths.
I have an air brush and would rather use that than dipping.

Uv paints maybe??

Somewhere there's a post on this but can't find it, least if I remember right.

Jigs are basic bucktails, ZZingers and Buzzbombs for the most part.

Those big heads will paint much nicer with the air brush. As for uv, get a bottle of the pump-spray product at Fleet Farm and give them a coat before fishing them. This won't cloud the colors.

Glow paint or pigments are another thing to consider but tough in an air brush.

Al,

White.

You're not going to catch any salmon jigging the bottom of Superior so there isn't a need to paint any in "green dolphin".
I can't tell you how many times I've seen a six pack charter of guys jigging for lakers where everyone but one guy is using a white jig and that one guy fishing with some other color doesn't catch dick.

Colors I was thinking of were white, green and blue.

No, no salmon on bottom, but they do suspend, but trout would be my fish of choice for this.
Unless the north shore has a run on 20-30# Kings and I'm not holding my breath on that one.

fwiw while running the riggers just off the bottom at 100-125 fow the green monkey puke spoon was the go to bait last time out, even over a same spoon in white.
White caught one, lost one, green 8 or 9 in boat.
But I have a white pearl with pink I use alot and is one of the starter lures I use.

That's what's nice about superior, two lines per person in MN and three in Wisc, great way to present multiple baits to find which bait/color is working.

Painting the buzzbombs I have, wasn't to impressed with the stock paint job.

I do have a bunch of bucktail style jigs in white and am looking forward to seeing how they work to.
Thanks by the way.

White or pearl, white or pearl/blue....a quick shot of the uv, you'll be good for the trout. Hang on a 4" PowerBait tube in white or pearl and catch fish.
