Hat Trick what happened? Honda motors are usually pretty darn good. Timing belt break and crash valves? Lack of oil changes? Water pump let loose and overheat? What year pilot?

Your manufacturer of choice is moving away from them as well.

What V-8 engines are you referring to other than their prototype racing engine ?

yep! V6 turbo in their 2022 "refreshed" Tundra is the chatter, with no more V8's to boot. That being said, Toyota has "hinted" for years and years that there is going to be a new body style for the Tundra, and not delivered. I would not be surprised if the same were true with the engine.

In addition to the Indy prototype V-8 they manufactured a 2.4L V-8 for F1 from 2006 to 2009. The failure of the engine lead to their departure from F1. They returned in 2015 with a V-6 that had the same reliability gremlins as the V8.

Fuel economy is too important for Toyota to continue with the V8. Everything I have read talks about the twin turbo from the LS500 making its way there. That should put it back in the game in terms of performance.

So that will make it more like the F150 with the eco and the Raptor, right?

It does sound similar to the 3.5 EcoBoost that is widely used by Ford.
