Very nice, gchaser! I'd consider doing something like that, too, but I don't yet know how often I'll use the rod holders and I'd prefer to have them near at hand but not mounted whenever I'm not using them.

The Beckson Clipper Clips I ordered from an online vendor just arrived. They look great! Plastic, minimalist and lightweight, but surprisingly sturdy, and easily strong and tight enough to hold the tubes securely even if I do mount the clips on the underside of compartment lids as I'm currently thinking I'll do. (They sell these clips in several sizes, each size being for a fairly narrow range of diameters, so you can get just what's needed for whatever you want the clips to hold.)

Questions for those who have mounted things to their beloved boats:

- Each clip has two 1/8" holes spaced 3/4" apart, and they say to use #6 flat head screws to mount them. What screw length, material and manufacturer (if you think manufacturer makes a difference) would you suggest I go with for my purpose?

- Any other advice (e.g. on pre-drilling screw holes or whatever) on how I can make a particularly good-looking, strong and lasting installation?

I'll take a few pictures and post them so folks can see what I did once I've done it.

Thanks!

Just an idea to still use your clips. What if you had a Modog rod rack like in the background of this picture and attached your clips to the front of it. You wouldnt have to drill holes in new boat. I know the weight might be a concern because they are held in place with velcro. Mine seems to be very stable and secure. Hope this helps.

I went and added some bungee cords to my Modog rod rack. It would work for rod holder storage but it will only hold four the way I set it up. I may use it to hold my triple rod tubes (as shown on the left).

Here is my final product. I like how it turned out. It will be able to hold all ten rod holders. It also pulls out easy whether its loaded or empty.

GB,
Unless I am mistaken most folks store the track accessories in the track accessory storage box.

I don't use my livewell, so it is kind of wasted space. I wanted to store my rod holders in there, but didn't want to risk damaging the livewell. I built a lexan case that fits the opening. It holds 6 long cradles, protects the live well, and restrains the rod holders so they don't get dinged up. Works well for me.
