Default Church TX-44 Planer Boards

Hi
I have two boards that are set up with flags. As of now I have not purchased the double action mechanism.
My question is to anyone who has experience using this model. Are the flags needed or just an added expense that is not needed for them to work properly.

Thank you

The 44 boards are big enough to pull around a volkswagen. i'm not sure what you would be fishing for that would require the use of a 44 board and also require a tattle flag. perhaps you could expand on what you are fishing for and the tackle you are using. i've personally only used them for long copper line while salmon fishing. no tattle flag needed for that

Tattle flags are nice in the respect they will tell you if you have a fish on.

The bad part is they need to be adjusted for what bait your trolling and that can be a pain.

The few I have I am running with multiple springs to help adjust them.

fwiw I'm in no hurry to buy anymore.

I run the off shore tattle flags for years on walleye and love them. I can tell if I have some weed or a small fish on. I've went with a little heavier spring than stock which makes adjusting for bigger lures easier. I can go from a flicker shad to a bottom bouncer with a crawler harness.

Church has a nice system to make that adjustment very easy, just move the lever.

I'll take a look, thanks.

My problem is I run them for everything from Crappies to Musky's and Lake Trout, the multiple hole selection on the OFF Shores helps, but the spring tension is such that I need heavier springs on some baits.

I rather use the Masted system, but it works better when your partner knows how to deal with multiple lines, and it sucks for run and gun fishing.

Al...who doesn't run much anymore..

Allen do have the new offshore flags? The ones with more spring holes for adjusting. You can even get them in green. So you can match your bow lights. Green on one side red on other side. They also have a new heavy wire for the tattle flags now. https://www.offshoretackle.com/GFLGSCR_BE.html
For musky and lake trout I would not use tattle flags. You could buy some extra eyelets. Screw them into the factory pre tattle flag location. Then move the releases to that location when you are fishing big fish. Bypassing the tattle flags.

Newer than what I have it looks like, thanks.

I run into trout from about 1-2# to 20+, it's the darn little ones that end up getting dragged until they die if your not checking often.

But ya, not needed for muskies/northerns I'd agree.
