you people catch walleye the way we catch catfish...well done!!

Only a couple lakes around here deep enough and have the right ingredients to grow walleye. Not many can you catch that are of legal limit in Eastern Kansas. Enjoy!!!!

I’m new to fishing the Detroit River. Where did you launch your boat from on this video?

I had posted that for the author, who is a fishing buddy of mine.

They had a slip that weekend, but after contacting him, and some map work, we figured it out.

They were @ a slip @ the Motor City Marina.

Just South of there is the Wyandotte Boat ramp. That’s the closest public launch.

For a first time, be patient as it gets hectic there.

Good luck, walleye should start soon.

Try looking at or into any of these. This is my annual cheat sheet for hotels.
If you do not like crowds, then Sterling State Park Harbor Town RV are what you are looking for.
A bit more rough, but way more secure, and less hassle, parking, etc. (Rough meaning tent/camper/RV)


This for launching in the lower 1/2 of the river, which is where I frequent the most, and focused on 3 Launches. Wyandotte, Elizabeth Park, & Lake Erie Metro Park.


Of the entire list, I prefer the Sterling State Park, or Harbor Town RV. Harbor Town RV is open year round, & are fisherman friendly. (Or at least have been to me in the past) However these are

Lakefront,
I would use it for info only, as I made that in 2019. Allot has changed since that time.

Monroe, (Sterling State Park/ Harbor Town RV area), has some new hotels.

There is a Tru, by Hilton Head, Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Days Inn, Town Place Suites by Marriot, Hampton Inn Monroe.


All are located on Dixie Highway right of 75, and all will be relatively close to these numbers and time frames.

Only thing I do not know is if they are fisherman friendly, and have electrical hook up, to charge batteries, etc, As I have not stayed at any of them, and some were just completed last summer, I think.

I like the location, and If I want to go Mid River, I just motor up that way with the boat.
