REW, Any thoughts on the best option for pole mounting a "live" style transducer? Not sold on the trolling motor mount because you cant look around while on spotlock

More and more folks are moving away from Ram to other designs that simply give a lot more stability to the instrument - especially when working big waves, and having a mount on the bow - coming down off of 3 and 4 foot waves when the wind blows hard.

But, if your mount works in the conditions that you run - great. If not - consider a switch to a different brand and type mount that may do a better job for you.

Some years ago - I removed all of the Ram mounts from my boat and moved to a non ball type mount that never moves - even in the worst of weather and waves.

Your choice.

Best wishes.
REW, yeah I knew about those issues and chose the new mount based on the holes that the dealer drilled to mount the original unit, if it wasn’t for that I probably would have used a brocraft mount, cheap, simple and durable.

A motorized turret to move it independently of the trolling motor. It's not cheap at $600, but it's the best option in my opinion.
