Eliud Kipchoge just did it in under 2 hours in Vienna. Go down to your local HS track and run 400 meters in 68 seconds. Now do it 104 more times. Incredible what these runners do.

In honor of the Chicago Marathon, this morning, the wife & I did a 1 mile walk at one of our local Forest Preserves. 40 degrees, too.

Hey, it's SOMETHING! Hahaha, HRG

Geez, I used to run quite a bit - 5Ks, 10Ks, and a few 9 mile races. I would generally finish in the top 5-10% of my age bracket. My best 5K time was 20:05. If I continued at that pace, I would have finished a marathon in 167.7 minutes. That guy would have beaten me by over 47 minutes. That's crazy fast.

I looked up the race last night.
I was blown away.

Such hard work and dedication to make numbers like these Champion's did on this particular race day.

That’s pretty darn fast. My best 10K was 43:25 at 46 years old. My only 15K was 1:10:32 at 44 years old. Never did a 5K. I know I could never do one 440 at those world class marathon time splits!!!

That was a set-up to break the record. Scheduled in a 9 day window to pick optimal weather, he had dozens of support runners rotating in to block the wind, course was set as flat and straight as possible etc.

It will not be accepted as a new record for a marathon.
