Default 300 Merc Verado Compression specs

Looking at possibly purchasing a 2011 Ranger 621 w/300 Merc Verado , 500 hours.. Should I be concerned with compression test numbers of 130, 140, 135, 140, 130, 140? Thanks

You are looking at a cylinder compression variation of 10 psi, which is normally acceptable.

But, in addition to the compression test, it is really a good idea to run a leak down test on the engine, by cylinder.

Normally you don't want the leak down on any cylinder to be greater than 10%

It is worth taking it in to a dealer and have him run a scanner on it and give you the % of idling and WOT. If the motor has a mixture of running RPM's at different percentages those numbers look good. If you have a lot of idling you may have an issue with carbon buildup at those hours. Many V-Rods have run over 1500hrs with regular maintenance...Chico...
