I am a huge fan of S&G. Graduate was a favored movie and the soundtrack was incredible. I saw them in person at the old fieldhouse on the U. of Iowa campus right after the premier of The Graduate. No back up band. Came on stage with a 12 string and 2, three legged stools. Played straight thru for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Walked off the stage. 15 minutes later, returned and performed for another hour +. Their songs were pure poetry. I would add that The Kingston Trio, Peter, Paul and Mary, The Beach Boys, will go down in history. Don't do concerts any more. Venues too large and you watch on screen.

Definitely a fan of S&G and this song, but I can't say can't say the same for this version.

Just doesn't do the song justice imho.

Personal taste again, but I'll pass on this one.

Thanks for posting though.

Apparently Paul Simon himself sent David an email directly praising this performance.

But you know how information is these days.....

There is something magical about covers that is hard to explain. So many songs are haunting just by slowing it down our making it acoustic.

Default The Sound of Silence

Sounds of Silence is the second studio album by Simon & Garfunkel, released on January 17, 1966. The album's title is a slight modification of the title of the duo's first major hit, "The Sound of Silence", which originally was released as "The Sounds of Silence".

I remember when it came out I was mesmerized by the harmony. Until a year ago, I sang "the wrong lyrics" when I would sing with the record.

I googled the lyrics and they actually brought tears to my eyes. there's something in SEEING the words. I've loved this song for all it's 55 years.
