Default Stainless prop theft

I'm thinking of popping for a SS prop. I stop off overnight on my way to Canada and I was wondering....has anyone ever had a SS prop stolen from their boat?

I primarily trailer around the great lakes from lake michigan to lake Erie to Saginaw bay and have never had a problem and have never heard of someone having a prop stolen. At times some of the places we have stayed were shaky to say the least.

Double check your insurance coverage to be sure that a stolen prop is covered.
Normally it would be covered.

I personally have not had any issues with a stainless prop ever being stolen from my boat whether local outings or Canadian outings.

Good luck

I have only ever heard of 1 prop being stolen and it was not from an outboard. It was one of those crazy double props from an Bravo 3 out drive.

I wonder if there would be a way to lock it?

Your prop is fairly safe, it is not easy to sell one quick.

I tow a lot. When I plan to spend the night on the road, I remove my prop.

The other obvious target is my i pilot motor. I use a heavy duty bicycle cable and big padlock and wrap the shaft and thread through the bow eye with no slack so it can't be easily stolen.

These two visual signals may be clues to a thief that my boat is well secured so they may pass it by.

I used to be paranoid about my new SS prop. Prop and bow mount went inside with me. Then I got my outboard stolen! Talk about ruining a trip!

Get a stainless prop that is painted black or paint it yourself. It will look like an aluminum prop to a casual thief.
