Default Patrick McManus

Passed away last Wednesday. Loved his humor and columns. Even my very young son (at that time) read his material.

Need more writers like him with a simplistic take on everyday life, human behavior/nature and a way of turning different personalities into "characters".

When reading his material I could relate to many of his characters as "back when" there were real "characters" all around us kids growing up. Most were beloved, some not so much, but all had a story. Just like McManus described.

So, where are the Patric McManus's of today? Surely they are out there.

That makes me sad,...

As a kid I loved his writing,..

I used it as my material for WI State Forensics competition in high school,...

Starred first 2 years at state!!

Those days are sadly gone,...

Can't write like that in 144 characters in a tweet,.....

As a kid I checked out every one of his books they had in the library and laughed my head off. Wow, I need to go back and read those again. I loved his writing.

I best remember him for his magazine end page articles, and several books. "Scholars have long known that fishing eventually turns men into philosophers. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to buy decent tackle on a philosopher's salary."
Patrick F. McManus

He wrote with a wit that was entertaining, and just past unbelievable most times, it seemed there were always quirky quick eye winks incorporated into his outdoor tellings.

R.I.P.

I think I have most of his books. My wife knew when I was reading one. Just laughing out loud! Maybe he was the originator of LOL! In one of TMac's photo albums, there's a picture of him and Patrick together. RIP!

Awesome writer! I remember his short stories in magazines as a kid growing up. As an adult I read all the books. I thought the Bo Tuley series was great. RIP

This is a pretty funny story. It is a little lengthy. There a number of others that I haven't listened to yet.

As a kid, when dad's Outdoor life would arrive I went straight to the last page to read McManus' "The Last Laugh"". I really enjoyed that part of the magazine. Too bad that it took his passing to remind me how much I enjoyed his writings. I'll be checking my Amazon kindle for his books. RIP Patrick McManus.
