At 83 should you be getting a fine, or are you a game hog ?

Game hog. Well thought out excuse. Age doesn’t matter. The fine seems reasonable.

With age should come wisdom. He got off easy. All his guests left for home empty handed? 😏

Anyone want to bet that this isn't the first time that he was way over the limit, the only difference is that he got caught this time.

Yep. The “fishes every day” is the giveaway there. The Ignorance plea is aggravating. I would have been more sympathetic if he would have just said “I love walleye and got carried away”.

I think this is kinda a common thing especially with duck/pheasant hunters, fishermen.... im sure he was loading the freezer for winter to eat em. but you know be he's been doing it for years...i keep a check list on my freezer to keep track and not get too much. plus I want to eat it whiles its relatively fresh. But I eat just a few fish a year, I'm almost 100% catch and release just cause I want them around, love the process, and don't need to eat fish all the time. I have no problem with others who do take/keep limits following the law. this is just what I do.

Probably fair for a "first time" offender but Id let him know I may drop in on occasion to keep him honest. Next time I'd pull his privileges, let him sit in city jail over weekend and pay a big fine.

Yes and Yes.

His fine was $30 per fish. Seems reasonable. If there's a next time, double it, maybe he'll get the idea.

Jail time! Come on fellas. I am sure it is not his first fill the freezer year. But first time caught. Fine is steep enough to make him think about it. The people at the home get some good meals too. If he has the money for the fine I don't feel sorry for him either. I am good to go with how it turned out. JMHO Bob

Depending on mood, I usually run $25 for first fish over, $50 second, $75 third and $10,000 for each fish over that.
Give or take a bit.

Nobody is forcing him to catch to many fish.
