Default windows 10 / internet explorer

Can I get the latest internet explorer update without updating to windows 10. If I understand correctly Windows 10 is the operating system and internet explorer is a totally separate function? I have the automatic update box for Internet Explorer not checked. I want the update but not Windows 10 like it keeps prompting me.

As far as Windows 10 is concerned, Internet Explorer is obsolete. Windows 10 introduced Microsoft Edge to replace it. You can still use Internet Explorer with Windows 10, but you have to do a little work to even find IE in a WIN10 system.

If you have Windows 7 or 8, you should be able to install the latest version of Internet Explorer.

Default Chrome and Windows 10

I have had nothing but problems using Chrome with Windows 10. Internet Explorer works but Edge works the best.

I've used Firefox for years now & am very happy with it. Haven't used I.E. in years. I've used Edge on windows 10 & it's ok.

Same here, and with the right anti virus, anti malware and adblockers, can be pretty secure, and maybe with a reasonable amount of privacy, (although I have no illusions about any real privacy, ) , but at least more so with Firefox than with Chrome. Chrome is Google, they watch and see everything.

However there are some sights I still have to use IE. For instance, for some reason cannot stream video from my local PBS station site using Firefox. Although that could be an issue with the most recent Flash Player versions (plug in version vs. Active X ) I used to be able to.( I'm still WIN7)

Does Firefox work on WIN 10 ????

Both Firefox and Chrome work with Windows 10, although I now find myself using MS Edge almost exclusively.
