Truck rust proof & undercoating
Has anyone had a vehicle rust proofed/undercoated with the TST system? If so, any advice or comments?

If you don't get that Trucoat, you get oxidation problems

With today's build techniques with full chassis immersion and the use of aluminum in the vehicles, why does any vehicle need any after market corrosion protection?
You are paying $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for the vehicle. Doesn't the factory make the perfect vehicle for you to use for your required 500,000 miles of service over the next 20 years? If not - WHY NOT???????????????????????? |

What vehicles have better paint and under carriage treatments? Is it by brand? Or does each brand have a better protective process used only on their higher end vehicles? For example, would Chevy put something under a Corvette that they wouldn't put under a Silverado, for example?
Or are we talking Bugatti does this, and Ford does not when we're talking "higher end" vehicles? It would seem this is only needed in the snow/salt regions (not many Bugatti's here lol). But maybe plain old water does the same thing???? |

Custom Eyes If you had a brand new Silverado in salt country and it is probably your last truck, what would YOU do to keep it 8-10 yrs? Ziebart or something else or trade in every 3-4 yrs? Thanks |

I did my F150 with Fluid Film on the undercarriage, in the doors, in the tailgate, and inside the rockers, then sealed the rockers off with expansion plugs. I don't know about the Silverado's, but the F-series trucks have stamped holes on the inside of the rockers that love to collect dirt, salt, and road debris, which is why they're usually the first place to rust. After I treated the entire rocker panel inside the channel, I used expansion plugs to seal them off. The factory puts tape over them, which eventually falls off. See pics. I used something we made at work similar to Fluid Film on my 99 Expedition. No rust for 17 years. It only started to rust because I quit treating it, passed it on in the family, and moved onto a newer truck. Hard to beat Fluid Film. It's self-healing and makes corrosion impossible to happen. Only downside is that the undercarriage has to be recoated every year or two. Cheap and easy if you do it yourself. Much better than those hard or rubberized coatings like Ziebart and such that can chip, plug factory drainage holes, and are porous to a degree.
