Default Tornado concerning

My wife and daughters are on their annual girls' weekend in Branson, MO. My wife just texted me that the sirens are going off and they are at the Target store. Everyone is being directed to the back of the store into the fitting rooms.

I love tornadoes and we are normally used to it. It is a bit harder to deal with when I am not there to help them or see what is happening..

They just turned off the sirens and gave them the all-clear. Will still be under a tornado watch for three more hours.

Yes. I and my daughters would be chasers if we had time. My DVR has a bunch of the Weather Channel Storm stories on tornadoes recorded. I live in tornado alley. I study that weather often. They are beautiful formations as long as they are not hurting anyone.

People make fun of us for living in the cold, snow & ice. But, it's not Tornado's & Hurricanes. I hope you all move South but for me i'll hang around in the cold.

We get plenty of ice and snow but I do dislike the cold. My joints really struggle with it.

We were hit with either a small tornado or straight line winds in 98 and in 04 and it wasn't fun. I like the cold. You can ice fish and snowmobile. You can dress for the cold but you can't dress for hot if you have to work outside. I get real ticked off at the radio announcers that say its a beautiful day outside when its sunny and over 90. To me a beautiful day is 60 and sunny or 70 and cloudy. I would like to call them and tell them to get out of their air conditioned studio and do some manual labor.

May of 1983 we (my 8.5 month bride and her parents) were caught in the middle of a Tornado inside the cottage we had just completed after 4 years of building it. It ripped the 2 bedroom cottage off the basement walls and set it down kitty corner to the foundation while we were in it. It also did heavy damage to both our vehicles. It did THOUSANDS of $$$$$ of damage but we rode it out with only a small cut to my back covering up my wife from flying glass.

We were considering naming my oldest son "Gale" but I lost that battle too.........LOL

Funny, I seem to remember tornadoes when I lived up North. I also remember below zero and lots of snow. I still come back North in July and August. 90's are still hot, even down South. Bob

I lived in SW Michigan for 64 years full time and 2 years wintering in the Gulf Coast. We had tornadoes, straight line winds, blizzards, and 90 degree summer days. I know this was an extremely hot summer but our families in Michigan had almost as many 90 degree days as we had here in SW Alabama. Is it hot and humid here from mid-May until early October? Yes.
We all have reasons for why we live where we do and that is a good thing.
We took a direct hit from Hurricane Sally this September and it was pretty bad. The first real damaging Hurricanes in 17 years so the locals tell us. If we don’t get another one in the next 17 years then I will have experienced my first and last hurricane in my life.
But there was that Typhoon in South Vietnam 50 years ago.
