According to the doom & gloom crowd here :

https://www.walleyecentral.com/forum...d.php?t=705682

it would be a waste of time to list a boat in the classifieds here. I have noticed very few boats listed by owners, mostly dealers trying to sell inventory.

So has anybody sold a boat recently? I could sell mine but if I need to take a bath on it I can hang on. Just wondering if anybody thinks it's worth spending the money now to advertise.

I think the only people shopping right now are those that are looking for deals due to the situation. I haven't sold a boat on this site, but have bought and sold on craigslist and facebook for sale groups. I will say that there was a boat on the classifieds here a few years ago that I was extremely interested in, price was good, was only a 4 hour drive to look at, and it sold before I could get down to see it (not sure if it sold off this site or through another).

In any event, unless you have to sell it, I'd say you're better off hanging on to it until the dust settles.

In-Depth Outdoors has a free for sale section that doesn't have the $500 limit of here. Sold a boat on there a few years back and had multiple offers, it was like new, and priced reasonable though.

I've sold three boats on here, the last one sold last fall.

Apparently I am really bored because I just went through the first 80 boats and only 8 out of the first 80 are listed by a dealership. I think 80 was a good sample population to make an inference that around 10% of all the boats listed here are by a dealer.

What does this mean....................absolutely nothing.

I think you meant only 8 were not dealer boats.

Not sure how your list is sorted, but mine has 14 of the first 25 as being sold from 2 dealers (King WI & Moorhead MN).

I sorted by brand. Made it through all the alumacrafts, larsons and a large portion of lunds. Adding your 25, the total sample is 105 boats. 22 dealer listed.

Note: a sample not randomly drawn will be biased.

For sure, roughly 10% of all alumacraft, larson, and lund boats here are listed by dealers.

Doesn't matter how you sort them.
