2020 Season Chosing Fishing Line Scratching My Head

This time of year shop for my fishing line.

Use: Light jigging
Live bait rigging

Pound Test: 4-6 pound Green

Always go back to Berkley Sensation. Tough to beat Stren or Trilene

Shopping some of the line brands, Sunline, Yo-Sura, Suffix Elite and Suffix Advance look good. Tend to be fussy about line diameter. So Sensation has been a good choice.

Would any of you care to give me feedback on the lines personally you have found best for finesse, light jigging or live bait rigging.

Seem to always end up back with Berkeley XL as old reliable.

I have spent the last 4 years using Stren Magnathin 6 lbs.

It really seems to work well for light jigging and pulling Lindy Rigs around.... My previous go to line was Berkley XL or Stren Mono.

I purchase the bulk spools of braid on Ebay from China. Some people will argue it's inferior but all the companies source from the same manufacturer. I find it to work out great. And for 14 bucks for 550yds of 30lb braid the price is right.

Good reminder, got a batch of bad (could happen to any line) Stren! A few years ago, left a bad taste. Might be worth revisiting

Gary, For years I was a Trilene XL guy, 8# test. Then my bait shop suggested Stren Magna Thin which was great. I too am fussy about diameter however I was never a fan of 4# and liked the 6# but still not confident of the strength (personal problem I guess!) Anyway the last 10 years I have been using PLine CX http://p-line.com/line/fluorocarbon-coated/cx-premium as my go to line and buy it in 3000 yard spools on Amazon. I use 8# green for my spinning and 15# for my casting. The CX 8# is the same diameter as standard 6# and you'd be surprised at the break point. As I don't use 6# but it would be standard 4# diameter. I also think that being fluorocarbon coated helps when jig fishing and live bait rigging in clearer water. Just my 2 cents.
