Honda seems to be happy with its old school reliability niche. For good reason. I looked seriously at them and almost pulled the trigger on a 150 as reliability was one of my top concerns. But the extra couple thousand dollars for a comparable HP outboard compared to competitors made me hesitate.
Yamaha seemed like the best of both worlds with newer technology, performance and a good reliability reputation. Looked really hard at them, too.
Suzuki had similar efi technology, good performance, less weight and a 140 hp model which saved me another chunk of change with a slight compromise in performance. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them to be truthful.
